I have seen many adaptations of Jane Eyre, but I have to say that the mini series with Ruth Wilson is by far my favorite version!

Oh you picked one of my top 3  , most Jane Eyre fans tend to hold the 1983 Mini Series with Timothy Dalton as the best version. Sure it has almost every scene from the novel, but...and this is just my personal opinion... I can't stand Zelah Clarke's Jane, Timothy was giving the role everything he's got while to me Zelah just looked bored throughout the whole the thing, it's just painful for me to watch. I feel if they'd have matched him with a better actress, I'd have loved it. Because Jane is the main character of the story, so if the actress playing her doesn't connect with you...then the film is going to fall flat, as it did for me. :P

But yeah I love the 2006 Mini Series, it is one of my favorites as I don't have a 'favorite version', my top 3 that I mentioned I all love equally for different reasons. ;) But yeah, Ruth Wilson did a great job, and Toby Stevens added the right amount of brooding charm to Rochester, and their chemistry was awesome. The reunion scene at the end is probably my favorite for how Toby plays it. Jane sneaking up on him because of course he can't see her...and then she speaks and his reaction always makes me emotional...he's so shocked and happy and can't believe she has returned to him. I just loved the way that scene was done, it's probably my favorite 'reunion' scene of all the Jane Eyre films I've watched

It's funny you guys are talking about Jane Eyre, since that will be my next PotO combined story. lol (that I have planned to do for over a year). I finished the Come to Me (Wuthering Heights) one (my goal before I started doing the Jane Eyre one) and will soon be posting it on fanfiction. But I'm going to read through the book again to refresh myself. Maybe even watch the movie...

I think my favorite was the one with all the kissing done on the bed, with Rochester trying to convince Jane to give in. lol It was somewhat shocking to see that in the British films they put out at the time, (a first), with how intense it was - but I loved it. :hearts: .

That's the 2006 Mini Series with Toby Stevens and Ruth Wilson ;)

I love that version, although the scene you mentioned with the kissing on the bed, lol. I'll admit as sexy as the scene is, I go back and forth on it, because as a lover of the novel I know that's not at all the way Charlotte Bronte wrote that scene. In the book Jane wouldn't even allow Rochester to touch her after she discovered the truth about his wife, but the scene as written in the book is still incredibly hot despite the fact that Jane is keeping her distance from him. Because we know that Jane is in danger of giving into him if she allows him to touch her, she pushes him away because she loves him so much it wouldn't take much for her to give into him.

So making out with him on the bed?

Ehhhh, that's flirting on the edge of the abyss, lol

But it does work for the film, and it is a hot scene lol :P , I tend to view it as Jane taking what she could because she knew she was going to be leaving him, it would have been their wedding night otherwise, and this was what was going to have to sustain her for the rest of her life without him. :(

The newer version that came out is good too - I had started vidding it, in multifandom vids, but never made a single video for some reason

The 2011 film (another of my top 3 favorites) I feel nails that scene from the novel, sure it's not as hot as making out on the bed, but I feel it did accurately depict that scene from the novel with Rochester throwing himself at Jane begging her to stay, and Jane just barely managing to keep herself from touching him, Mia and Michael did a brilliant job on that scene, I felt and it always manages to move me to tears every time I watch it. :hearts:

You're welcome honeyphan, I'm happy to provide a creative spark for your writing lol

And for anyone who is wondering I know you can get both the 1943 film and the 2011 film on Amazon:

Jane Eyre 1943
https://www.amazon.com/Jane-Eyre-Orson-Welles/dp/B000MGBLHS/ref=sr_1_1?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1494029532&sr=1-1&keywords=Jane+Eyre+1943

Jane Eyre 2011

Unfortunately unless you are willing to drop a small fortune the 2006 Mini Series isn't available, I've looked and they are asking for anywhere between $80 to $100 bucks for it, ridiculous. :ahno:

But I know people have posted the whole show on YouTube, I've seen it on their, if anyone wants to watch it just let me know and I'll hunt down those links for you, no problem. :)

If you have a multi region DVD player, you can get the 2006 BBC mini series for around $4 on eBay...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/JANE-EYRE-BBC-D ... Sw5cNYhM76

If you have a video downloader, you can rent or buy it on Amazon for under $10...

It's also available on Pirate Bay though not a wonderful quality but pretty good.

Thanks Rose! I loved those clips. :hearts: You can just hear Rochester's desperation in the second clip, trying so hard to convince her not to go, and his jealousy towards this aunt that is taking her away from him. I also love how he teases her in front of Blanche :P

Thank you for that info, NM! :hearts:
So good to see you again...

I wish I had one of those multi-region DVD players, but I don't...
For those who don't mind a non-HD version - (I've watched the first few minutes and the quality still seems to be really good, despite that it is 360) or symbols at the bottom (foreign subtitles) - here is the 2006 version with Toby Stephens.

The rest of them can be seen by looking at the "up next" column (though it might show as one of the possibilities in the screen after clip is over) or pasting the title in the search bar and substituting the next number for "1" Enjoy! :hearts: (I think this is what I'm watching today. lol)

I just watched the OUAT from last week that dealt with Rumbelle and what happened to them after they got the baby back-
and I am so glad I did.

They not only did their story justice, it was one of the most beautiful couple story resolutions on there. And the scenery they used - the settings were brilliant, romantic, just gorgeous...

G- I know you were iffy - and yes, it was sad (since the actress isn't in this season and just made the guest appearance they had to do something to explain it away) - but still, I highly recommend it for all Rumbelle lovers.

On that note (continuing in fairytale land)- I love Alice, the girl who plays her does it well, but am not all that crazy about Lucy. lol Too bad she's a main character. haha

Hope everyone is doing well! :)

Honey, I loved last weeks OUAT I thought the Rumbelle story was so sweet. I like that they kind of meshed Carl and Ellie's story from Up with BATB...I got that vibe anyways with them building a house on a cliff of a water fall and the scene where Rumple had to say goodbye to Belle made me cry. :( :(

I am loving this new season. It is sad not to see all the same characters but nice that they are still making appearances.
